Improving Protein Utilization According to Chinese Medicine

These suggestions are based on the relationships of interior organs to emotions as described by conventional Chinese medicine. They involve the growth of digestive functions of the liver and pancreas by making attitudinal and lifestyle regulations:

  • Harmonize the work; rest when weary; and exercise frequently.
  • Avoid stressful situations.
  • Do one thing at a time.
  • Avoid all intoxicants and refined foods. Especially harmful is refined sugar.
  • Avoid excess of concentrated sweeteners and coffee. Decrease fruit intake if protein deficiency is severe.
  • Chew food thoroughly.
  • Large amounts of protein-rich foods are not automatically better; small amounts, but taken more often usually have a more positive result.
